November 10th D.S. Baker and John Boyer open bank
This two-story brick building housed the Baker & Boyer mercantile in 1861. The mercantile also offered basic banking services and safe-keeping for miners’ pouches of gold. It was sold to Paine Brothers & Moore in 1869 and Baker Boyer Bank was established on the upper floor.
