DS Baker dies
Dorsey Baker’s final resting place is on the south edge of Walla Walla at Mountain View Cemetery. Established by the city in 1853, the cemetery grounds were barren until Baker planted a few trees and shrubs, and personally hauled water to nurture them. He later bequeathed the funds for the cemetery’s original watering system, acknowledged by a fountain erected in 1902 in his memory.
